The inflow started at 55,000 m3/day at the beginning of the plant commissioning stage, in April 2014. The flow was increased when more catchment areas were connected to the Wastewater Collection Network (WWCN) and Deep Gravity Sewage (DGS) at the completion of the project. The development in Busaiteen, Muharraq, Arad, and Hidd have contributed to the increment of inflow through DGS. The development of East Hidd City and Diyar Muharraq in 2019 and 2020 respectively also have contributed significant increase. Muharraq STP Company BSC is expecting a future connection from Hidd Industrial Area Pretreatment Plant to the DGS will further increase the flow. Apart from receiving flow through DGS, the plant also receives flow from tankers. More tankers are delivering sewage to the plant and the trend is increasing year to year.
The majority of TSE produced from the plant was discharged to the sea through sea outfall. The plant provided Tankers Station where the TSE can be collected by tankers. Since 2014 there were tankers from various government authorities and private companies that collected the TSE. The main uses of the TSE are for irrigation and watering of plants and gardens as well as usage at the construction site. In 2022, the TSE pipeline project undertaken by Diyar Muharraq was completed. Muharraq STP Company is expecting that when the pipeline is fully commissioned by end of September 2022, the demand for TSE will increase tremendously.
