The plant is located away off Prince Khalifah Bin Salman Causeway on a newly reclaimed island away from areas of population.

Effluent from the Sewage Treatment Plant:
  • is in compliance with international environmental standards
  • was designed to be reused, such as unrestricted irrigation reducing pressure on water resources

Surplus Sludge is incinerated to minimize the amount of residuals.

Community Liaison Officer appointed to address community interests and concerns during construction.

Independent environmental consultant – PH Environment Gulf – appointed to regularly visit and monitor construction works and the operational site to ensure environmental mitigation measures are put in place and maintained.
